Countywide Beach Management Feasibility Study

From 2000 to 2003, Walton County hired Taylor Engineering, Inc. of Jacksonville, Florida to conduct a Countywide Beach Management Feasibility Study. The study was needed to evaluate the current state of the beaches after the passage of Hurricanes Erin and Opal in 1995 and Earl and Georges in 1998. The goal of the study was to determine technically feasible and financially acceptable methods for protecting, restoring and enhancing Walton County shorelines. This study serves as the basis of Walton County’s Beach Management Program and highlighted projects that should be conducted to assist Mother Nature in restoring Walton County Beaches for future generations. The study’s summary and recommendations for the study are provided as links for further reading.
